Fahne

Upholding a centuries-old Alpine region tradition of representing regiments, congregations, schools, and social clubs with ceremonial flags, the STV Alpentänzer Schuhplattler commissioned a custom designed and embroidered Fahne in 2023.

Fahnenweihe

The Fahne was consecrated in a celebratory mass, or Fahnenweihe, in 2024, attended by members of fellow Vereine from across the US and Canada and followed by a parade of costumed marchers and flags through Midtown Sacramento and concluded with a festive Gala Dinner at the Sacramento Turn Verein.

Symbolism

In keeping with tradition, our Fahne’s design features visual elements that represent both our geographic region and our club. One side includes scenic images of the mountains, river, agricultural crops and coastal trees that surround the Sacramento area, as well as natural decorative motifs including California Golden Poppies, Sacramento’s famed Camellias, and leaves from our indigenous Valley Oak trees.

The reverse side depicts our beautiful Sacramento Turn Verein building, a couple wearing our traditional tracht, and some of the instruments played by our band. These visuals are framed by text that commemorates the years of our founding year and the Fahne’s consecration, as well as the slogan, “Tradition erhalten und Geminschaft feiern,” which translates to “Upholding traditions and celebrating fellowship.”

Sponsors

Production of the Fahne and hosting of the Fahnenweihe would not have been possible without the support of these generous sponsors.
