The STV Alpentänzer Schuhplattler perform traditional Austrian and Bavarian folk dances and music throughout Northern California.
To book a performance, first check our availability and then contact us to discuss event specifics. For Oktoberfest bookings during September and October, we highly recommend that you contact us no later than January, as our group books solid for the season at least six months out. Our calendar is typically more open during the spring and summer festival seasons. A 20% fee is required to secure a booking, which becomes nonrefundable 90 days prior to the performance date.
Performance Details
A typical performance lasts approximately two hours, with appropriate breaks, and consists of the following components of approximate durations:
Two 20-minute sets of dancers performing traditional Austrian and Bavarian folk dances, accompanied by our live band.
One 10-minute audience instruction and participation dance such as the Chicken Dance, Auftanz, or Siebenschritt, led by our dancers and accompanied by the band.
50 minutes of our band playing Oktoberfest-style music – including popular waltzes and polkas – before, after, or alternating with dance activities.
Performers dressed in authentic Austrian or Bavarian Tracht imported from our European suppliers.
While the number of volunteer performers cannot be guaranteed, most of our performances feature at least 14 dancers and musicians, plus sound crew.
Facility Requirements
Our dancers require at least 15 ft. x 15 ft., which is as level as possible and made of smooth hardwood, laminate, fiberglass, linoleum, or polished concrete. Many of our clients choose to rent portable dance floors.
Our band typically requires a 12 ft. x 15 ft. space or similar and a regular 110V electrical outlet within 50 feet.
To avoid injury and prevent undue wear on their shoes, our dancers will not perform on carpet, asphalt, rough concrete, or other rough or uneven surfaces.
Fees
Our fee for a typical performance in the Greater Sacramento area typically starts at $1,000, plus food and drink for performers where possible. The band is available to play additional Oktoberfest-style music for additional fee and refreshment consideration.
We are happy to help with making your event a success. If you wish to have us provide entertainment for more than two hours, or if you would like to schedule our performance around your other event activities, please contact us to discuss available options.
Fees
For events outside the Greater Sacramento area, additional fees apply depending on distance to help offset travel expenses. If food and drink cannot be offered to our performers, additional fees will be charged to cover a post-performance meal at an alternate location.
Discounts are available to organizations that book performances with us on multiple days during the same Oktoberfest season.
